MY STORY

After years of working in IT—a career that kept our family supported but rarely fed the part of me that loves making things—I realized I had slowly drifted away from the version of myself that once felt the most inspired. I have a fine arts degree, yet somewhere between raising kids, being a wife, managing a household, and the constant pace of work, I stopped treating myself like an artist. Life got full, and art quietly slipped to the side.

As time went on, I felt less connected to my work in IT. With our kids getting older and living more independently, I suddenly had pockets of time that felt like my own again. I realized how much I missed doing something personal and hands-on. So I started drawing again, cautiously at first. One evening I doodled the cocktail I was drinking on a scrap paper. A few days later, I pulled out my old watercolors and gouache and began experimenting. That small return to painting reconnected me to who I was back in college, when I split my time between the art studio and my bartending shifts. It felt fitting that cocktails would be what brought me back.

That spark grew into something bigger, and eventually I realized I didn’t just want to paint for myself — I wanted to share it. That’s why I started Cocktail Art Monthly, a small art club built around color, connection, a bit of fun, and the joy of drinking something delicious. Each month, I paint a new cocktail in my impressionistic gouache style, pair it with the recipe on the back, and send it out in a simple envelope that feels like a tiny surprise in the mailbox. It’s a way for me to build a business rooted in passion instead of burnout, and to share a piece of the joy I rediscovered when I finally picked up my paints again.

Cheers to new chapters — and to creating something fun again, one illustrated drink at a time.

Cheers,
Stephanie

I’m a pretty shy person, especially when it comes to putting my face on the internet for the whole world to see, so instead of a real photo, here’s an AI-generated younger me. It’s definitely a more polished, digital-glow-up version of the middle-aged mom behind this project, but it felt like an easier way to introduce myself without hiding completely. Think of it as my “internet-friendly” look—much braver and better lit than I ever am in real life.

Maybe after a cocktail or two (or three), I've be brave enough to show the real me.
